Veto Session Votes
It's an honor to represent the voices and values of all 4,000 plus Orl-4 residents in Montpelier. When I’m voting on a bill, I ground the decisions I make in the feedback I get from constituents. Given the diversity of political persuasions in our district, every topic invites a range of perspectives and every resident has unique insights to share.
I vote yes on policies that I feel make life better for people who live in our communities and I speak up and vote no on policies that don’t, regardless of party affiliation.
Yesterday, during the veto session, there were a lot of tough decisions to make. On the seven bills that we took up, I voted YES on four bills (H.72 OPC, H.121 Data Privacy, H.645 Restorative Justice, and H.687 Act 250), and I voted NO on three bills (H.289 Renewable Energy Standard, H.706 Neonicotinoids, and H.887 the Yield, which sets property tax rates).
I know that I can’t please everyone with all of my votes, but I’m always happy to get your questions, hear your feedback, and talk more about the issues that matter. I know that with listening, learning, and working towards compromise, we can build a Vermont that works for everyone.
